Rae Kocatka is a speculative fiction writer, cosplayer-sewist, and generational curse-breaker.
A graduate of the Clarion Writers’ Workshop ’18, her work has been published in Reckoning. Her writing is deeply informed by her experience of chronic illness and explores the value we assign to bodies and how we lie to ourselves about our (in)humanity.
Rae holds a dual degree in History and Russian Civilization from Smith College, where she was awarded the Gertrude Posner Spencer Prize for fiction. Her academic interests include totalitarianism, thanatology, and body horror.
She comes from the Pennsylvania woods, where she currently moonlights as a swamp thing.
